She participated at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona where taekwondo was a demonstration sport, and reached the semi finals winning a bronze medal, which is not counted on the country's total because of the "unofficial" character of the sport at that games.

She reached the semi finals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Carmona won a gold medal at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, and received a silver medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.
