Alanganallur is a panchayat town in Madurai district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.[1] It is headquarters for the Alanganallur taluka and revenue block.
Description
Agriculture is carried out in a large area around this place. Rice, sugar cane, coconut and plantains are the major crops. There is a sugar factory located within 1 km from Alanganallur.
The Jallikattu (bull taming) ceremony is conducted here during the Pongal (harvest festival) season, to choose the best breed, which occurs during the middle of January (usually 14 January). Many Indian people come here during this festival to visit the Jalikattu.
