207 is the North American telephone area code for the state of Maine, excluding Estcourt Station which uses Quebec province's overlay of 418 and 581.

Area code 207 was created as one of the original area codes in 1947 and retains its original boundaries, having never been split or overlaid.

Area code 207 is expected to "exhaust" by 2024; a second area code for Maine would be needed, most likely an overlay, which would not require some devices with 207 to switch to a new area code, but would require 10-digit dialing within Maine.[1]
