Software Planning did not merge into Camelot; as a Sega subsidiary, Sega merged its investment in Sonic into another of their subsidiaries, Nextech, as stated on Nextech's website (see citation). Additionally, the Takahashi brothers stated in an interview that Shugo started Camelot with the intention of developing for other consoles such as the PlayStation (see citation).
