Candice Accola (born May 13, 1987) is an American actress and singer, best known for her role as Caroline Forbes on The Vampire Diaries.

Life and career

Accola grew up in Edgewood.[1] Her father, Kevin, is a cardiothoracic surgeon[2] and her mother, Carolyn, was formerly an environmental engineer before becoming a homemaker. Both her parents are active members of the local Republican political party.[3][4] She has one younger brother.[1]

Then, in the middle of her junior year at Lake Highland Preparatory School, she moved to Los Angeles.[1] Six months later, she had a deal for a CD titled It’s Always the Innocent Ones. She finished high school through correspondence and graduated with her class in 2005.[1] Accola appeared in her first movie, Pirate Camp, in 2007. Accola has guest-starred on popular TV series How I Met Your Mother, Supernatural, and Greek. She has also appeared in films such as On the Doll, Juno, Deadgirl, and X's & O's.

Accola has continued her professional singing and has appeared as a background singer in the movies Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert and Hannah Montana: The Movie.

She appears as Caroline Forbes in the television series The Vampire Diaries.

Accola guest starred on Drop Dead Diva as Jessica of pop group Confetti with Mackenzie Mauzy.

Personal life

In September 2009, Accola was arrested along with several of her Vampire Diaries castmates for disorderly conduct. The actresses were reportedly flashing cars passing under the Rumble Road Bridge in Forsyth, Georgia. The charges were later dismissed.[5] The photographer, Tyler Shields, was fined $4000.[6] She has a tattoo of a bird on her left wrist and a small star on her right foot.[citation needed]

In 2010, she dated her Vampire Diaries costar Steven R. McQueen. It is unknown if they are still together.

Philanthropy

She is, together with her The Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder, one of many supporters of the It Gets Better Project, a project that has made it a goal to prevent suicide among LGBT youth,[7] associated with The Trevor Project.[8]
