Amateur qualifications

[edit]

Does anyone else think that "never turned professional" may be slightly too stringent a qualification for this category? It seems to me that players who had long, distinguished amateur careers, or who are primarily known for their amateur achievements, should probably also be members. Two examples I can think of are Frank Stranahan, who was a signficant amateur player for a long time then turned pro at age 32, and Jay Sigel, who was a leading amateur player for 20+ years and then turned pro at age 50 to play on the Senior PGA (and did quite well).
