Untitled[edit]

Should Argentinians really be categorized under "Hispanics"? Not to be racist (being multiethnic myself), but I mean, there are more white people there than mestizos and Native Americans combined. White people predominate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.213.170.142 (talkcontribs)

Hispanic refers to Hispania, or Spain, and Argentina was a colonial country like any other in Hispanic-Americas. There's also a huge number of Spanish lastnames, and no other country (not even Italy) provided so many immigrants to Argentina as Spain. In short, Hispanic has nothing to do with Native Americans. Then, the predominance of white people is another issue... Mariano(t/c) 07:39, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong! Italian immigration was largest than the Spanish immigration. one third larger, at least during 1880-1940, and before that population wasn't even a million in Argentina. Tell me if you need the sources. Besides half of the Spanish immigrations was Basque and we could discuss about if they really are ethnic Spanish or not.

All Argentinians are Americans[edit]

I mean "American" means from America. And America (the continent) includes Argentina. So all Argentinians (and all Bolivians, Brazilians, etc.) are by definition Americans. Since this encyclopedia is addressed to people from all over the world, I think it should be less biased, and it should use a less prejudiced vocabulary. I suggest calling this section "Argentinians living in the United States". --Eduarodi (talk) 09:28, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
