Athletic Training vs Sports Training or Personal Training

[edit]

A lot of articles are being put into the category of Athletic Training that would be better suited in a category of Sports or Personal Training. Do these categories exist and if not they need to be created so that they can be kept separate. --ITasteLikePaint (talk) 18:36, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Athletic Trainers are health care professionals that center their attention around athletes and immediate care to these athletes. However, they assist by helping athletes preform rehab for current injuries, and use modalities such as ice and heat to help prevent and heal injuries. They know how to treat onset acute injuries, and know what to do in extreme situations.

Personal Trainers are people who focus more on people in the gyms. They help people gain muscle, loose fat, and also teach proper techniques when it comes to exercising and stretching. They work one on one with clients and know how to push people to their limits without having them get injured. They learn their clients goals and do their best to help their client achieve these goals. Both of these professions have a range of places as to where they can work. However, they are both concerned about peoples health and want to prevent injuries.
