Presenters/personalities

[edit]

Forgive the ignorant American, but is this redundant with Category:British radio personalities, which many of these people are also in? If it is, somone should put it up for deletion as a duplicate. -- SCZenz 03:17, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Answer
A presenter presents news, discussion or current affairs programmes, whereas a radio personality may be a DJ, a radio essayist,a regular contributor, a comedian, a radio actor etc. Thus presenters will also be personalities, but personalities will not all be presenters.--Westminsterboy 22:28, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Good, I added it to the right category then.. ;) -- SCZenz 22:44, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm British, and I think this distinction creates more trouble than it is worth. The usage of the two categories, presumably mainly be British Wikipedians, is highly inconsistent. Chicheley 09:58, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This British Wikipedian agrees that the current categorisation is confusing and should be revised. I would propose merging presenters into personalities. However, in the interests of consistency I have for time being made category:radio presenters a subcategory of category:radio personalities so at least people will be able to find it --Vince 21:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
