Plumage patterns that need further explanation include:

Black-breasted red; not as simple as it sounds. This is the foundational wild-type plumage pattern found in jungle fowl, and in older breeds such as old English game, Dorking, Dutch bantam, etc, very interesting topic
Crele; this word not only describes an interesting tricolored barring pattern, it is also missing from most dictionaries, and might be an etymological mystery. Some poultry people seem to think it is from the Spanish, because of the Crele patterned Penedesenca, but "crele" means "believed" in Spanish, and the Crele pattern is known in Spain as "barrada". The pattern has an interesting genetic basis as well...
Blue; this "color" needs some explanation because it's really a mid tone grey, not blue at all; there is an interesting story behind the pattern, see Blue Andalusians, and interesting genetic stuff going on as well.
