Highway D3 (Czech: Dálnice D3) is a highway in the Czech Republic. It is scheduled to run from Prague via Tábor and České Budějovice to the Czech-Austrian border at Dolní Dvořiště. It is part of the European route E55.

Course

Once completed, the 172 km (107 mi) long highway will connect the Czech capital Prague with the Austrian Mühlviertler Schnellstraße (S10) highway to Linz. As of July 2013 only 43 km (27 mi) of the highway are in operation, a section from Mezno to Veselí nad Lužnicí, while further 16 km (9.9 mi) from Veselí to Ševětín and from Borek to Úsilné are currently under construction. The most controversial and disputed section is the planned segment in the Central Bohemian Region.

Expressway R3

A 25 km (16 mi) long section from Kaplice to the border with Austria on the other side of the future Mühlviertler Schnellstraße (S10) was under consideration to be built as Expressway R3, but since 1 January 2016 is counted as part of the D3 motorway.
