Ashish Chanchlani (pronounced [əˈʃiːʃ t͡ʃənt͡ʃəˈlaːni]; born 8 December 1993), is an Indian YouTuber, internet personality, and actor.[1] He is known for his comedic sketches and relatable content, which often parodies everyday Indian life and situations. With over 30.4 million subscribers, he is one of the most subscribed to Indian YouTube channels, and has garnered a significant following across other platforms as well.

Chanchalani was born in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra and started his YouTube journey in 2009. He is known for his major contribution on social media and projects like Class of 2017. He has ranked among top 5 creators on Youtube[2] and is India's most notable social media personalities. Ashish has also been awarded as Best digital Influencer' Award by Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2022.[3][4][5][6]. Chanchlani has also been awarded in the catagory of Most stylish Digital Entertainer (Male) by Bollywood Hungama Style Icons in 2023.[7] And in 2021 he was awarded with Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards India under Favorite YouTube Artist catagory.[8]

Early life and education

Ashish Chanchlani was born on 9 December, 1993, in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, India. He grew up in a family with a business background, his father, Anil Chanchlani, owns a single-screen theatre called "Ashok-Anil Multiplex." His mother, Deepa Chanchlani, is a financial analyst. Ashish has a sister, Muskan Chanchlani, who is also a content creator.[9]

From an early age, Ashish was passionate about acting and entertainment, often drawing inspiration from Bollywood films. He completed his schooling at Holy Public School in Ulhasnagar and later pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering at Datta Meghe College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai. Despite his technical education, Ashish's interest in acting led him to enroll in a short course at Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai, which further honed his acting skills and paved the way for his career in content creation on YouTube.

Career

Ashish Chanchlani began his career as a content creator on YouTube in 2014 with the channel "Ashish Chanchlani Vines." Initially, he started by creating short comedic videos, inspired by popular YouTube and Bollywood comedians. His unique blend of relatable humor, exaggerated expressions, and quirky storytelling quickly resonated with viewers, helping him gain a massive following.[10]

Ashish's breakthrough came with his viral video "How to annoy people who say — Tu Mere Baap Ko Jaanta Hai?" which showcased his talent for comedic timing and relatable content. As his popularity grew, he diversified his content to include sketches, parodies, and social commentary, often collaborating with other popular YouTubers and Bollywood celebrities.[11]

In March 2024, in a news covered by The Statesman (India) it was revealed that Popular social media influencer and Bigboss OTT Season 2 winner Elvish Yadav was influenced by Ashish Chanchalani which after which he started his own YouTube Journey.[23]
