Courtney Alan Lane, widely known as Cort Lane, is an animation producer,[1] children's book author, creative executive, and storyteller with two decades of kids’ television experience at Marvel/Disney and Mattel.[2][3][4][5][6]

Early career[edit]

Lane started his entertainment career at Mattel in 2001. He joined Marvel as Director of Creative Development in 2008. In 2016, he was promoted to Senior Vice-president, Animation & Family Entertainment.[3][4]

Professional Career[edit]

While at Marvel, Lane served as supervising or co-executive producer on all current series in addition to leading the animation development team.[6] Lane recently developed Spidey And His Amazing Friends for Disney Junior. He developed and produced Marvel’s Spider-Man,[7] Guardians of the Galaxy, Ultimate Spiderman, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Hulk, and The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. He has also co-executive produced the animated special Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload.[1]

Personal life[edit]

Lane resides in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles with his three dogs. He enjoys devoting personal time to activism within the LGBTQ+ community for organizations like GLAAD, Prism Comics, and the Brazilian arts charity, Quitutes & Batuques. [citation needed]

Lane recently developed Spidey And His Amazing Friends for Disney Junior. He developed and produced Marvel's Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ultimate Spiderman, Marvel's Avengers Assemble, Hulk, and The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. He has also co-executive produced the animated special Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload.[1] Lane also collaborated with partners on projects like Phineas & Ferb – Mission: Marvel (from Disney TV Animation) and Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers (from Toei & Bandai).[8][9] He has also worked on co-productions of Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Marvel Anime: Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men, and Blade, as well as developing and supervising the production of The Super Hero Squad Show.[1]

During his career, he served as director of development for Marvel Animation, working on co-productions such as BET's Black Panther. Prior to joining Marvel in 2008. Lane spent seven years at Mattel producing animated, live-action, and interactive entertainment across brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Fisher-Price. His tenure at Mattel includes several productions, including supervising Universal's Barbie in A Christmas Carol and developing Monster High. [citation needed]

Lane is currently exec producing the new My Little Pony: Make Your Mark CGI series for Netflix.[1] He is also an exec producer on the documentary No Straight Lines: The Rise of Queer Comics, premiering at Tribeca & Outfest jury prize winner before it's broadcast debut on PBS. [citation required] Lane has also been serving on GLAAD's Kids & Family Advisory Council, and recently as head judge of the Toronto Animation Arts Festival International. [citation needed]
