Filimo (Persian: فیلیمو) is an Iranian subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming television service was launched on January, 2015[1], owned and operated by Sabaidea, a company based in Tehran, Iran. It offers films and television series from various genres, and it is available in multiple language. Filmo has more than 400,000 monthly subscribers with a market share of more than 50% among competitors. [2] Over 450 million minutes of video content are viewed by Filmo users per month.[3]
History
[edit]Filmo service started in February 2014 under the name of Filmo Aparat[4] but after a short time it was renamed to Filmo. The first version of Filmo application was released in June 2014 for Android users. Filmo reached the record of one million video views in March 2014.[5]
According to Filmo's report, in 2016, this service achieved a record of 1 billion and 145 million minutes of online video content in 2016 with a 445% growth compared to last year; Also, Filmo experienced a 581 percent growth in the number of users in 2016.[6][7]
In March 2016, Filmo unveiled its exclusive version of Android TV. [8] In August 2017, Filmo's phone support service became 24 hours.
In August 2019, a hardware called Filmo Box was introduced, which allows users to view Filmo content on their TVs with 4K quality.[9][10][11]

On August 13, 2019, Sabaidea Holding unveiled its first hardware under the name of "Filimo Box". Filmo announced that this Android box uses 2 GB of DDR4 RAM memory and also has 16 GB of internal storage.[12]

[edit]On special occasions, Filmo offers some of its content for free, which normally required the purchase of a subscription; For example, such a plan was implemented in Nowruz 1401 and Ramadan of the same year.[13] [14] In January 1401, Filmo became free for Irancell Internet users.
