Faizal Khan (born 1993), known professionally as Khan Sir (pronounced [ˈxɑːn sɪɽ] ), is an Indian Educator and YouTuber based in Patna, Bihar. He runs a coaching centre for students preparing for different kinds of competitive exams in India.[2]
Early life and teaching career
[edit]Khan was born to a middle class family in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, in 1993. His father worked as a contractor and his mother was a housewife.[2]
In 2019, his coaching in Patna was closed because of COVID-19. At that time, he started his YouTube channel named Khan GS Research Centre and started teaching online. He also launched an app in 2021 and started offering online courses to the students who were not able to come to the city to study offline.[3]
Controversies
[edit]- On 24 April 2021 Khan shared a video on France-Pakistan relations that eventually went viral. Many X (Twitter) users criticised the video and said called Khan Sir Islamophobic. Others found some pictures of him celebrating Raksha Bandhan, a festival that is mainly celebrated by Hindus, after which he had to issue a clarification on YouTube.[1]
- On 27 January 2022 a FIR was lodged at the Patrakar Nagar police station against six teachers of different private coaching centres, including Khan's, and 16 others in connection with violent protests over the Railway Recruitment Board's NTPC examination. The FIR was registered on the basis of statement of some protesters who were taken into custody by the police during the violent protests at the Rajendra Nagar Terminal.[4][5]
