Sunil gupta and his son Ankit Gupta started the Matrimonialsindia website in 1997 while working as a developer in his copmany weblink.in.^{[citation needed]} He got an idea for matrimony website so with help of developers he created a website and gain much traffic from search^[2].

In 2001, MatrimonialsIndia reported^[3] significant user engagement with 200 million member logins from India and abroad. MatrimonialsIndia identified the need for a secure and efficient platform for arranged [[Marriage|marriages].^{[citation needed]}
