Liam Tallon (born 1986),[1] more commonly known by his stage name Draft, is an Electronic music producer, musician and DJ.[2]

Biography

Tallon adopted the moniker Draft after pursuing a less chaotic music style than the one he had been endlessly pushing whilst working at Lifted Music and Breed 12 Inches as Label Manager.[3] He has said in a rare interview that the name stemmed from the "amount of unfinished music he had started".[4]

After the freely distributed EP 2011 release, "In The Dead Of Night",[5] Tallon became known to ‘BBC Introducing’, where his breakthrough track ‘More Than Her’ featured in their rotation. At the time, Liam was working at Lifted Music alongside Spor and Chris Renegade, and managing Breed 12 Inches,[6] but the Draft project began to move in popularity rapidly, forcing him to move away from Drum and Bass and focus full-time on the project.

On 24 February 2012, Draft met with the Drum and Bass label Metalheadz, where he was approached to feature on the Metalheadz takeover of Boiler Room TV, alongside music acts such as Goldie.[7] He would later provide Metalheadz with an exclusive "Metalheadz Podcast Mix", which would eventually go on to be one of their highest listened to podcast releases in history.[8]

As of September 2012, Tallon was signed up by the remix department at ThreeSixZero Group,[9] known for their exclusive line up of artists, including Deadmau5, Calvin Harris and previously colleague and good friend, Feed Me.

On 15 September 2012, Draft released an 8 track IDM EP, "TheEndOfTheBeginning",[10] which would contain 8 tracks of original material. Late 2012, he was approached to remix the Two Fingers track 'Not Perfect'[11]

In September 2013, Tallon signed exclusively with AEI Media[12] and over the course of 2014 began releasing through Luke Hood's 'Pilot Records'.[13] His debut EP, The 'Phryday EP', received great reception, amassing hundreds of thousands of views for the music video,[14] as well as extensive radio play.[15] His latest EP, 'Makeshift Constellations',[16] shows his diversity as an artist, and he has confirmed that he will begin a residency/US show schedule in 2014[17]
