Renaming?

[edit]

I think this article needs a rename… first, “erstwhile” is a somewhat archaic word that many readers will not be familiar with… it means “former”, so just use that. Second, “township” is confusing (it means different things in different parts of the world, but usually some place fairly small). The list is currently focused on major centers of the Ottoman slave trade… places with actual slave markets. I don’t think the intent is to list every small village or hamlet that occasionally bought or sold a slave. Finally… there is the question of article scope. Is the intent to stay focused on the Ottoman era or to expand to other eras? Either is possible, but the article title should reflect the intended scope. As it currently stands, I would suggest Major centers of Ottoman slave trade or something similar. If the intent is to expand into other eras, then I would suggest subheadings (Roman, Viking, Arab/Ottoman, European/Atlantic, etc). Blueboar (talk) 13:21, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
