Minimum thresholds[edit]

Hey @Apoxyomenus: I guess I should have posted in the talk page first before doing any major edits. My rationale was that instead of both lists (artists and albums) merely being carbon copies of the main best-selling Latin artists/albums list, I figured I'd halve the requirement. My idea was to show how underrepresented women are in the Latin music industry. Not many Latin albums by female that I know of sold at least a million copies. But if one million albums is still too low, that is perfectly fine. I just wanted to share where I'm coming from. Thanks as always for your help! Erick (talk) 06:50, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Magiciandude: The list has been in my watchlist cuz AlexanderShakifan29 created it, and then, I moved it to the current draft lol. From my acknowledge, there are even those with only "claimed sales" from a variety of female singers, not even listed in the main list of Latin albums: from Martha Sanchez, Monica Naranjo to Rocío Durcal, and Xuxa or Julieta Venegas with albums of over 1 million or more sold. So in my mind, I made a copy+paste of a safer figure of 2 million with enough certifications, and are limited. Some of the current artists have other million-seller albums. Just an idea. No worries if you have a different one. Cheers. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 07:14, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing! If it gets too out of hand (like pointless edit wars, editors abusing it, or there's too many albums), I'll revert it back to 2 million just to be safe. Erick (talk) 07:22, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Apoxyomenus @AJona1992: How's this list? Is it ready to go? Erick (talk) 03:12, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Erick Below there are possible additions. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 15:55, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
 Done I've added both the missing artists (except for Ha*Ash) and alternative sales figures. I couldn't find a reliable source for Ha*Ash that doesn't have inflated sales either. Erick (talk) 21:03, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What's the point to segregate women in music?[edit]

This is something obvious in sports, but why in music? can't they compete on equal terms? why not then just a male list? Sorry for my ignorance. Franlm14 (talk) 19:53, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The topic itself is broad and receives coverage by academia or media. There exist "female" records in the industry (the best-selling album by a female artist and more), listicles, organizations/initiatives, see Billboard Women in Music (link). You don't will expect culturally, more attention from commerce to everything, in Men's Day that from Women's Day. Is how, for good or bad, society perceives the gender roles, and in these areas, music record/label "male" is lesser repeated. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 20:49, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
