Jazz Band
2008 - Assistant Drum Major Graham Seigler was officially recognized as the worst Drum Major the school had seen in years. His lack of basic musical skill and any sort of inherit knowledge in the ways of
conducting, keeping time, and commanding the respect of his subordinates in band was a severe detriment to the success of the Royal Blue Regiment, much to the dismay of his peers and director. His name has
become synonymous with the term "complete and utter failure" and a new euphamism has been fashioned after his legacy.
ex- Someone slips on a muddy slope, and crushes the lead pipe of their baritone. A bystander then yells "Jeeze, you really pulled a Graham on that one!"

El Toro High School is a public high school in Lake Forest, California, United States and is one of five high schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District (SVUSD). The school has served the area since 1973. The current principal of the school is Dr. Allan Mucerino, who succeeded Dave Ellick at the start of the '07-'08 school year.

Academics

El Toro's 2004 API score of 795 tied for highest in the SVUSD. The school began participating in the International Baccalaureate Program in 2004. Over 400 computers are available for student use, including 83 computers in the library and four classroom sets of laptops.

Recent graduates have been admitted to University of Southern California (USC), University of California, Irvine,University of California, San Diego,University of California, Santa Cruz, Colgate, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, Caltech, MIT, Berkeley, UCLA, Notre Dame, Carleton College, Georgetown, Northwestern, Vassar, Duke, Tufts, California Lutheran University, Westmont College, Point Loma Nazarene University and the United States Air Force Academy.

Athletics

El Toro's mascot is a bull and teams identify themselves as the Chargers. School colors are blue and gold and teams compete in the CIF Southern Section.

Extracurricular Activities

El Toro students participate in over 45 clubs and organizations. Two-thirds of the student body are involved in athletics, visual and performing arts and/or campus activities.

El Toro's very own Peace club has raised money to support two children through world vision. One in Guatemala and one in Peru. Peace club has also done PEACE demonstrations to increase public awareness of global problems. The club was started by Aze Perkins.

El Toro's newspaper, The BullETin was awarded a gold award from Columbia University for its 2005-2006 school year.

Available programs include Model United Nations, Mock Trial, Drama Department, Scholastic Competition, Video Production, Web Page Design, and Virtual Economics. The Read 180 Program and the Newcomers Program were introduced in 2003. El Toro has highly recognized programs in the fine and performing arts including:

"Every 15 Minutes" (presented every other year) is an educational experience that reminds the students, family and faculty of the dangers associated with driving while impaired. It was most recently presented in April 2008.

Every year, the El Toro Engineering Club participates in the Solar Cup race in Temecula, building a solar powered motorized boat, and racing it against other teams across the state.
