Possible Violation of Canadian Copyright[edit]

{{RFCpolic | section=Possible Violation of Canadian Copyright!! reason=The Story Girl.png is copied from [http://lmm.confederationcentre.com/english/covers/story.html Virtual Museum of Canada] and violating it's [http://lmm.confederationcentre.com/english/copyright.html copyright]. Uploading it to Wikipedia and claim U.S. public domain is questionable act. !! time= 01:41, January 20, 2008 (UTC) }}

I believe this image was copied from Virtual Museum of Canada. Please compare with this Enlarge Photo.

The Museum has Copyright page and it is written:

All images are embedded with a watermark tracking symbol (Digimarc); images are not for use by any party outside of the Virtual Museum of Canada Partnership for "Picturing a Canadian Life: L.M. Montgomery's Personal Scrapbooks and Book Covers".

This is what the owner of the photo image claiming. So, two questions arise.

  • Does US have right to copy the copyrighted material of Canada?
  • Does this article suitable for viewing from Canada?

I'm not going to disturb other people's contribution but I believe intentionally uploading the copyrighted photo image of the Virtual Museum of Canada, which is even implanted watermark technic to be able to detect the illegal use, and release it in Wikipedia as public domain in the United States would not desirable situation.
