"Fly"
Song

"Fly" is a song by Brazilian pop singer Wanessa, featuring American rapper Ja Rule, taken from Wanessa's sixth studio album Meu Momento (2009). It was released as the lead single from the album on April 7, 2009.

Release

The song has the hip-hop and Contemporary R&B genres. Wanessa composed the song along with Ja Rule, Deeplick, Denilson Miller, Marcelo Mira, Samille. One day before its official release the song was released on iTunes also in other platforms leading the sales charts in the country.

According to Crowley - a company specializing in electronic monitoring radio - the music was one of the most performed pop songs on radio stations across the country in 2009,[1] in addition to the clip of the song has already been viewed more than 6 million times on YouTube.[2]

The music has a more production-oriented hip-hop, and the letter discusses the career trajectory of Wanessa. The musical production was due to the DJ Deeplick.[3]

"Meu Momento" brings Wanessa singing in Portuguese, while she sings "Fly" in English. Ja Rule's rap is the same in English, in both songs. According to Wanessa, "Fly" is the official single, while "Meu Momento" is a bonus track, despite this, some radios have preferred the music in Portuguese. In August, the Portuguese version was released as a promo-single.

Music video

The singer shot the video for the song "Fly" alongside Ja Rule in the Royal Club, of Marcus Buaiz, Wanessa's husband. The video shows Wanessa and Rule talking on top of a building and dancing in the club. It also brings Rule of individual scenes in front of an LED display and sipping champagne with girls and Wanessa sitting on a sofa with a silver dress. The clip has also highlighted the good quality in sound and image.

"Fly" reached in just less than a month, the mark of 1 million hits on YouTube, even before the singer went on any TV show to promote music. It now has over 4 million views on YouTube as of August 2011. The video premiered on April 8, 2009, at MTV Brasil.[4]

Promotion

Wanessa was present in several radio stations to launch the single, including the Radio Transamerica FM, Mix FM, 89 FM and Metro FM.

The big surprise of the launch of the new single is that the music was being played on Jovem Pan FM, a radio that had not played any music from the singer.

The song was very successful in Brazil, spending 12 weeks at the top of Billboard Brasil Hot 100 Airplay. Wanessa was nominated for the 2009 MTV Video Music Brazil in the Hit of the Year category with this song, and performed with Ja Rule at the event on October 1.
