These are hill forts within the state of Rajasthan mainly based in the Aravalli mountain range and built between the 5th century AD and 17th-18th century AD. They include the six forts on the world heritage list: Chittorgarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Ranthambore Fort, Gagron Fort, Amber Fort, and Jaisalmer Fort. There are also the fort palaces of Udaipur, Bikaner, Dungarpur, Bundi, Kota and Mehrangarh Fort, .

Chittorgarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort are examples of Mewar forts. Jaisalmer Fort is an example of Marwar fort. Amber Fort is an example of Dhoondhar fort.
