The International Indian School Dammam (IISD), formerly Indian Embassy School Dammam, was founded on 5 October, 1982. It provides education from kindergarten to senior secondary levels, to Indian children located in and around Ad-Dammam and Al-Khobar in Saudi Arabia. The medium of instruction is English. The school was established on 10 October 1982 with 250 students and 15 teachers in a few portacabins. In 2006, different buildings were built for boys and girls. Today the strength is around 18,000. The school is the largest affiliated institution to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in the MENA region. It has nearly 100% results in the CBSE class-XII board exams conducted annually for secondary school leaving students.[citation needed] It was innaugrated by the then Prime Minister Of India Mrs.Indira Gandhi.
