Jurassic World is an upcoming attraction that will be themed to the Jurassic World franchise at Universal Studios Hollywood. History
The announcement was made on May 10, 2018 by Universal Studios Hollywood officials during the 25th anniversary of the 1993 film Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg. It was stated that Jurassic Park: The Ride, which originally opened on June 21, 1996, would be closed for retheming based on the 2015 film Jurassic World and its 2018 sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.[1] NBCUniversal's press release stated that:
Twenty-two years later—and after sending millions of guests back to the Jurassic era for menacing face-to-face encounters with such predators as Stegosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Dilophosaurus, Velociraptors and the Tyrannosaurus rex — "Jurassic Park—The Ride" will become extinct in preparation for a new, next-generation experience that's even more immersive and technologically advanced. The new ride will pay homage to Jurassic Park and will reimagine this landmark film franchise for theme park guests.[2]
Including the fact would involve all-new audio-animatronics and special effects, which most fans and critics noted that the original ride was in need of serious repair due to the breakdown of animatronics and practical effects. Not only that, the press release also stated that the Jurassic Cafe restaurant and Jurassic Outfitters retail store near the original attraction would also close and will reopen along with the new Jurassic World-themed attraction in 2019.[2]
