Legacies is an upcoming American television drama series to debut on The CW during the 2018–19 season. It is a spin-off of The Originals, which is itself a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries.

Premise

In a place where young witches, vampires, and werewolves are nurtured to be their best selves in spite of their worst impulses, Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson, Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, among others, come of age into heroes and villains at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.[1]

Cast

Production

In August 2017, it was announced that a spin-off of The Originals focusing on Hope Mikaelson, the daughter of Klaus and Hayley, was in development. Julie Plec, The Originals creater and co-creator of The Vampire Diaries, penned the script and is credited with creating the series.[3] In January 2018, it was revealed that filming for the pilot would go into production in the second quarter of 2018.[4] It was announced in March 2018 that the spin-off was in fact ordered to pilot, but instead of a traditional pilot, Plec would be delivering a fifteen-minute pilot presentation of the series to The CW. It was also announced that The Vampire Diaries veteran Matt Davis would star in the project along with Aria Shahghasemi, Quincy Fouse, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant. Shahghasemi will debut in the fifth season of The Originals as Hope's friend Landon.[5] On May 11, 2018, it was announced that the spin-off, titled Legacies, was ordered to series for the 2018–19 television season.[6]
