Linkin Park is an American rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California in 1996 under the name Xero by Mike Shinoda (vocals and guitars), Brad Delson (guitar) and Rob Bourdon (drums). They later recruited Joe Hahn and Chester Bennington. The band is noted both for its blend of rap rock and alternative metal. Linkin Park have released three full-length studio albums. From these works, twenty singles have been released, with twenty-eight accompanying music videos. They have also released seven video albums, two live albums and ten extended plays. All of their studio albums have been RIAA certificated as Platinum, of which two were Billboard number ones. The band has achieved nine number one singles on the Alternative Songs chart ("In the End", "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Numb", "Lying from You", "Breaking the Habit", "What I've Done", "New Divide", and "The Catalyst"). Also, they are known for the hit singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling", "Numb/Encore", "Bleed It Out", "Shadow of the Day", "Leave Out All the Rest", and were featured in the X-Ecutioners' "It's Goin' Down" and Busta Rhymes's "We Made It".
Linkin Park rose to international fame in 2000 with their debut album Hybrid Theory which reach #2 in the Billboard 200. Their next major release was Meteora, which entered the Billboard 200 at number one in 2003. In 2007, the third studio album, Minutes to Midnight, also debuted in top spot in the Billboard 200; it sold 623,000 copies in its first week.[1] In 2008, a live album titled Road to Revolution: Live at Milton Keynes was released. It was recorded during the band's annual Project Revolution festival tour at the Milton Keynes National Bowl on June 29, 2008. The band has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and has won two Grammy Awards.[2][3][4]
