  • On 4 January 2008 at 14:08 UTC a Transaven airlines Let L-410UVP-E3 (registration number YV2081) on a scheduled domestic flight from Simón Bolívar International Airport, serving Caracas, to Los Roques Airport, reported that it had lost power in both engines at 3,000 ft (910 m) and was descending. The aircraft was on a 024 radial heading relative to the airport of departure and 64 nautical miles (119 km) to the north of it. The pilot was to attempt water landing near the coral reef surrounding the Los Roques archipelago. Shortly after the crash only a few life vests associated with it were recovered. In June 2013, 5 years later the aircraft was discovered after a joint search operation by Italy and Venezuela. There were 12 passengers on board and two crew. The remains of one male passenger were found later floating in the water this was the copilot who apparently opened one of the front doors before hitting the water and was thrown out by the gush of water entering the plane that eventually sank very quickly.. The passengers were mostly vacationing Italians.[1]
  • The 2013 Venezuela Transaereo 5074 Britten-Norman Islander crash happened after a Transaereo 5074 airlines airplane took off from Los Roques towards Caracas Airport, crashing into the ocean a few miles from Los Roques Airport, killing all 6 occupants.
