Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao popularly known as Avanthi Srinivas is an Indian educationalist turned politician and a member of parliament from Anakapalli (Lok Sabha constituency), Andhra Pradesh. He operates Avanthi Education Institutes in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana under Avanthi Educational Society, Visakhapatnam. He won the Indian general election, 2014 as a Telugu Desam Party candidate.[1]
Mr. Srinivasa Rao had written to Mr. Suresh Prabhu on January 21, 2016 seeking a new line that would provide rail connectivity to the hitherto unconnected and remote villages, which fall under his Parliamentary constituency. He suggested that the railway lane would also foster development of the remote areas. His efforts got a new railway line between Tuni and Kottavalasa junction via Narsipatnam, Chodavaram and Madugula have yielded fruit with the Railway Minister making a provision for Rs.16.82 crore in the budget for preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the new line.[2]
Personal life
He was born on 12 Jun 1967 to Shri Muthamsetti Venkata Narayana and Smt. Muthamsetti Nageswaramma. He married Smt. M. Gnaneswari on 20 Jun 1986 and has a son Nandish and daughter Priyanka.[3]
Political career
He was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly between 2009 - 2014. In May, 2014 he was elected to 16th Lok Sabha. At the Lok Sabha he is a member of the Rules Committee; Standing Committee on Industry and the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Human Resource Development.[3]
