Navraj Singh Goraya (born November 3, 1989), better known by his stage name Nav (stylized as NAV), is a Punjabi Canadian hip hop recording artist and record producer from Rexdale, Ontario, Canada.[1] He is signed to XO and Republic Records.[2][3]
Music career
2015–present: Commercial debut
In September 2015, Nav released one of his earliest songs to his SoundCloud account, called "Take Me Simple". In July 2015, Nav contributed production and writing to Drake's diss of Meek Mill, Back to Back.[4][5] Nav first rose to fame when he received a co-sign from American reality television personality Kylie Jenner when she posted a video of her lip-syncing to his song, "Myself" on her Snapchat account in April of 2016.[6] In early 2016, "Take Me Simple" and "The Man" was featured on Drake's OVO Sound Radio on Beats 1.[7][8] In September 2016, Nav collaborated with an American rapper Travis Scott on Scott's song "Beibs in the Trap" from his album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, which Nav also produced. The song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) with no radio support.[9] The song peaked at number 90 on the US Billboard Hot 100.[10] In February 2017, Nav released his eponymous debut commercial mixtape, preceded by the lead single, "Some Way" featuring The Weeknd.[11]
