Nija Charles (born October 20, 1997) is an American songwriter and record producer.[2] Since Nija Charles, who is signed to Universal Music Publishing Group, started her professional music career in 2017, she has written songs recorded by artists such as Beyonce and Jay-Z (“Heard About Us” and “LoveHappy”); Cardi B ft. SZA ("I Do); Cardi B ft. Kehlani ("Ring"); Jason Derulo for the 2018 Official World Cup and Coca-Cola anthem ("Colors”); and Chris Brown ("Pull Up"). [3]

Biography

Nija Charles first had an interest for music as a child observing her uncle and aunt experiment on the production software Fruity Loops. In 2016, she enrolled into the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University in which she practiced her production and songwriting skills. Shortly after her first semester of sophomore year, Nija Charles met her current manager, Christian McCurdy, who flew her to Los Angeles, California to work with notable producers and A&Rs in the recording industry. Nija continued flying back and forth between Los Angeles and New York for short bi-weekly trips that allowed her to work on music in Los Angeles whilst still attending her classes in New York. Eight months later, in November 2017, Nija submitted a notice to leave to Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music after signing a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. Nija Charles has since become a songwriter and producer who has had songs that have reached platinum status. She has composed/and or produced for Beyonce, Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Cardi B, SZA, Kehlani, Jason Derulo, and others. [4]
