Nilson Corrêa Júnior (born 26 December 1975), known simply as Nilson, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Portuguese club C.F. União as a goalkeeper.

Most of his professional career was spent with Vitória de Guimarães in Portugal, for which he appeared in 226 official games over the course of seven seasons, six spent in the Primeira Liga. He also played three years with Persepolis in Iran.

Club career[edit]

Guimarães[edit]

After spending his most of his Brazilian career representing modest clubs, Vitória-born Nilson moved to Clube Náutico Capibaribe in 2004, helping it reach the final of the Pernambuco State Championship. In the following year he signed with Portugal's Vitória Sport Clube, being first-choice from the start but not being able to prevent, however, the Guimarães side from being relegated to the second division in his first season.

After only missing two league games in 2006–07, as the Minho team returned to the Primeira Liga, Nilson played in all matches in the following campaign as Vitória achieved a third place, good enough for UEFA Champions League qualifying round honours.

Persepolis[edit]

On 17 July 2012, aged nearly 37, Nilson signed a two-year contract with Iranian club Persepolis FC.[1] He helped his new team finish second in his second season and thus qualify to the AFC Champions League, keeping a Pro League-best 18 clean sheets; he extended his link for another year on 24 May 2014, but was released on 1 January 2015.

Moreirense[edit]

On 10 July 2015, Nilson returned to Portugal with Moreirense FC.[2]

International career[edit]

Nilson played for Brazil at under-20 level. In late May 2011, he was invited by Portuguese Paulo Duarte to represent the Burkinabé national team.[3]
