North Normandie Avenue from Griffith Park Observatory

Normandie Avenue is one of Los Angeles County's longest north-south streets. With a stretch of about 22.5 miles (36.1 km), it lies between Vermont Avenue and Western Avenue, starting off north of Franklin Avenue. Through traffic on Normandie is directed onto Irolo Street between Wilshire Boulevard and just north of Olympic Boulevard. In this section, Normandie exists as a small residential street between 7th Street and the intersection of Normandie and Irolo streets, just south of San Marino Street. The avenue merges with Vermont Avenue south of Pacific Coast Highway in Harbor City.

The intersection of Florence and Normandie Avenues is famous as the starting point of the 1992 Los Angeles Riots.

Transportation

Metro Local lines: 206 and 209 operate on Normandie Avenue, as well as Gardena Transit lines 2 and 4; MTA Line 206 runs between Hollywood Boulevard and Imperial Highway, MTA Line 209 between Imperial Highway and 135th Street, Gardena line 4 between 135th and 182nd Streets, and Gardena line 2 between 182nd Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
