History

Suara Irama Indah era

After Elshinta Radio was bought (possibly by Salim Group) in the late 1970s, Soejoso Karsono created Radio Suara Irama Indah.[2] Sudibyo Karsono also contributed to Irama Indah radio[3]. Later the radio changed into B-FM and Radio One in the late 1980s.

Radio One

Radio One started broadcasting in late 1980s. This radio's audience was young adults, playing classical music. With affiliation to Prambors group in late 1980's, Radio One was partially owned by Masima Group along with sister station Prambors, Delta FM, Female Radio (acquisition of Tangerang-located station), Bahana 101.8, M97 (now RDI) and SPFM (now Oz Radio). Radio One once had provincial stations, but they were sold to Masima to create Prambors provincial stations. In 2007, this affiliation led to ownership of Masima Group's 20% share by Mahaka Group. In 2004, the 101.0 FM frequency was first time used, after using 101.25 FM for over a decade. In 2006, management decided to change Radio One branding into 101 Jak FM. Ownership was overtaken by Mahaka group and now they are the sole operators.

Jak FM

Jak FM changed the branding only. Neither DJ's nor music was altered from Radio One. To cater younger and more varied listeners, Jak FM later added new music, mostly Western music. Jak FM slowly reduced classic hits and added new announcers, including morning show DJ Ronal Surapradja and Tike Prie.

Programming

Jak FM operates for 18 hours (06.00 (all time in UTC+7)-00.00) . Outside operating hours, Jak FM plays automated music. Daily programs include:

  • Sarapan Seru (Ronal, Tike, Melissa Karim)
  • 101 Menit Musik Nonstop (various announcers)
  • Jak Best Music (various announcers)
  • Joki 3 In 1 (Jodi, Vecky) - based on abandoned 3-in-1 policy in Jakarta main avenues
  • Night Mix (various announcers)
