Payal Fort has been built by Maharaja Amar Singh of Patiala in Payal with the co-operation of Mughals in 1771.[1] This fort is present here today also. At present, Govt. Girls High School is being run in this fort.[2]

This historical fort has been handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India after removing illegal encroachments.[3]

The interior of the fort is fast crumbling.[4]
