Syed Iqrar Ul Hassan (اقرار الحسن سید) is a Pakistani television presenter and journalist. He has been working at ARY News for many years. Previously a newscaster, he now hosts a program called Sar e Aam.

Incident

[edit]

On 29 April 2016, Iqrar and his Sar e Aam team were wrongfully arrested[2] on orders of the Sindh Home Minister for highlighting the poor security in the Sindh Assembly by bringing an armed man with him using media passes issued for the Assembly Session[3][4][5] but he was granted bail just a day later.[6]

He has also done sting operations in numerous factories, restaurants, police stations accused of bribery, corruption, and adulteration.[7]

On 14 February 2024, Iqra and his Sar e Aam team visited Peer Haq Khateeb's place at Kotli Sattian to expose his tricks.[8] He met Khateeb and debated.[9] After some time on 22 May, he was attacked by the unknown followers of Khateeb in his car at Gujranwala.[10][11]

Personal life

[edit]

Iqrar Ul Hassan joined the Pakistani electronic media in 2006 as a reporter on ARY One World (now known as ARY News). He began his news coverage profession as a newscaster for ARY News.

Iqrar first married in 2005 to journalist Qurat-ul-Ain Hassan. He married a second time in 2012 to TV journalist Farah Yousuf, and a third time in 2023 to Youtuber and journalist Aroosa Khan.[12]

Pehlaaj Hassan, his son with Qurat-ul-Ain, is a child actor who played the character of young Momin, the protagonist of the television series Alif starring Hamza Ali Abbasi.[13][14][15][16][17] His performance received positive reviews, and he was nominated for the Best Emerging Talent in TV award at the 2021 Lux Style Awards.[16][18][19]
