Peyton Roi List (born April 6, 1998)[1][2] is an American actress and model who is known for playing Emma Ross on the Disney Channel comedy series Jessie and Holly Hills in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film series. She appeared in various films and television episodes as a young child and modeled for tween magazines and companies. In 2011, she joined the cast of Jessie as Emma Ross, the eldest of four siblings that are being cared for by a teenage babysitter. In 2015, she reprised the role in the spinoff series Bunk'd. She has also been involved in other Disney Original Movies such as The Swap.

Early life and education[edit]

List was born in Florida,[1] but moved to New York City at the age of four, and grew up in the Carroll Gardens and Red Hook neighborhoods of Brooklyn. She has two brothers, Spencer (her twin) and Phoenix; both are actors and models. She lives in Los Angeles, California.[3] She attended The Carroll School (P.S. 58) for elementary school, and the New Voices School for Academic and Creative Arts (M.S. 443) for middle school, both in New York City.[4] She later attended Oak Park High School in Oak Park, California, where she graduated in 2016.[5]

Career[edit]

List has been a 2011 model for Justice magazine. She has also appeared on the cover of the American Girl's 2009 Back to School issue. She appeared alongside Robert Pattinson in the film Remember Me as a girl who bullies Pattinson's character's little sister. In 2010, List appeared in the Disney film The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and in Lifetime Movie Network's Secrets in the Walls, alongside Jeri Ryan and Kay Panabaker. List began modeling both by herself and with her brother Spencer. She has appeared in over four hundred advertisements in various formats for various companies.[6][7]

List starred in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days. She had a major role as Holly Hills, the crush of Greg. From 2011 to 2015, she starred as Emma Ross, the eldest of four children, on the Disney Channel series Jessie alongside Debby Ryan and her Diary of a Wimpy Kid co-star Karan Brar. On February 25, 2015, it was announced that Jessie would end after its fourth season, and that List, along with Brar and Skai Jackson, would reprise their roles in the spinoff series Bunk'd.[8]

List is also an active member of the Disney Channel Circle of Stars.[9]

She performed with Ingrid Michaelson at one of Michaelson's concerts.[10]

Shared name with fellow actress Peyton List (born 1986)[edit]

Peyton List shares the same name with a fellow actress, Peyton List (born 1986).[11][12] The younger List was interviewed by Access Hollywood, saying she uses Peyton R. List to avoid confusion.[11] Union SAG-AFTRA's policy avoids actors with the same name; this instance went unnoticed.[11] They appeared in the same scene — when the older List starred on As the World Turns as Lucy Montgomery.[11][13] Years later, the younger List cited confusion when they stayed at the same hotel — they received daily call sheets and voicemails for each other.[11] IndieWire noted the confusion appeared on the website Wikipedia, where both actresses's articles started out with exactly the same introduction text verbatim of: "Peyton List is an American actress and model."[12]
