Rafi or Raffi (Arabic: رفیع Persian: رافی Urdu: رفیع) is a name of Arabic origin is one of the names of God in Islam, stemming from the Arabic verb rafaʿ (رَفَع), meaning "to lift, to raise (something high)". maybe also rafi means "noble".[1] There are two common known variants of the name: Rafi/ Raafi (Arabic: rāfiʿ رافع - meaning "Hoister/ Exalter/ Raiser [of Ranks]") and Rafi/ Rafee (Arabic: rafīʿ رفيع - meaning "Possessor of Highest Ranks" or "Exalted/ Grand/ High") which is commonly confused. Other common variants include "Rafee", "Rafie", "Rafiq" [corrupt form], "Rafay" and "Raffy".

Rafi is also a common nickname amongst Jews for people named Rafael.
