Romano Bilenchi

Romano Bilenchi (1909-1989) was an Italian novelist, short story writer and essayist.[1][2] He was born in Siena. He was involved with the resistance movement during the Fascist rule of Benito Mussolini. He was also active in the Italian Communist Party after the war. As a writer, Bilenchi published novels, short stories and essays. He won the Viareggio Prize in 1972. His literary friends included major 20th-century figures like Eugenio Montale and Ezra Pound.

He died in Florence in 1989.
