The Sentinel Islands are part of the Andaman Islands chain. There are two of them: North Sentinel and South Sentinel. The Sentinelese people live on the North island. The islands belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.[9]

The islands are split between 2 tehils: Port Blair Tehsil and Little Andaman Tehsil.[10]
