Stephen Fitzmaurice is a Grammy Award-winning mixer and producer based in London, UK. His credits include albums for Depeche Mode, Seal, Sam Smith, Ian Brown, Kylie Minogue, Sting, Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, The Kooks, U2, and Utada Hikaru.

About

Born in Ireland, Fitzmaurice moved to London in 1987 to carve out a career in music. He began working at Sarm Studios under the watchful eye of mixer Julian Mendelsohn and producer Trevor Horn, leaving in 1992 for The Hit Factory in New York City where he worked on records by Eric Clapton and Jodeci and recorded the as-yet undiscovered Timbaland. Fitzmaurice went freelance in New York and soon started to mix all of Trevor Horn's records. These included Seal's second album, for which he received his first Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Recording. The following year, Fitzmaurice won his first Grammy when "Kiss from a Rose", which he mixed, picked up the award for Record of the Year. He has gone on to work with a diverse array of artists including Brett Anderson, Ian Brown, Depeche Mode, Sam Smith, The Frames, Gemma Hayes, Olly Murs, Kylie Minogue, Kate Nash, Tina Turner, U2, Sting and Wendy & Lisa.

2009-2010

In 2009 and 2010 Steve's work included the Paloma Faith debut album "Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful", Filthy Dukes "Nonsense in the Dark", Professor Green singles "I Need You Tonight" and "Just Be Good to Me", and Olly Murs' number-one single "Please Don't Let Me Go", as well as tracks with Cage the Elephant, Taio Cruz, Groove Armada, Hard-Fi, Daniel Merriweather and Metronomy.

2011

In 2011 projects included mixing and additional production on Aloe Blacc's massive hit "I Need A Dollar", Olly Murs' number 1 single "Dance With Me Tonight" and number 1 album "In Case You Didn't Know", Chiddy Bang's debut album, "Breakfast" (US number 4), as well as tracks for JLS, Wretch 32 and songs for Sting's '25 Years - The Definitive Collection'.

2012-2013

In 2012 and 2013 Steve mixed and produced "Back To Now", the third solo album by Skye Edwards of Morcheeba. Steve also spent time working in India where he recorded and mixed Series 2 & 3 of Coke Studio India. Steve also mixed tracks for Foxes album "Glorious", Olly Murs' four times Platinum third album- 'Right Time, Right Place' as well as tracks for The Rascals, Dragonette and MKS.

2014-Present

Fitzmaurice's recent work includes recording, mixing and co-producing Sam Smith's UK No1 debut album In the Lonely Hour , the new album 'Listen' by The Kooks, mixing Shane Filan's debut album, as well as tracks by Indiana, Circa Waves and Eliza & The Bear.
