Milano (disambiguation)Milano – Upon reviewing the page views of Milano vs. Milano (disambiguation), I fail to see how it can be assumed without a doubt that most readers who look up the term "Milano" are intending to locate the city of Milan. In addition, the top results for Google books for "Milano" contain next to no results for the city of Milan. For English readers, readers are probably trying to locate pages like Alyssa Milano or Milano (cookie), for example. It would probably be best to move the disambiguation page to the ambiguous title so that readers can figure out which page they are trying to locate. Steel1943 (talk) 20:41, 6 December 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. Bradv 14:58, 16 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Steel1943. Sincerely, I do not agree with the proposal. For the same reason why "Munchen" automatically redirects to "Munich". Maybe a lot of people from the US are looking for Alyssa Milano. But "Milano" is, first of all, Milan's native name. And it will stay as it is far into the foreseeable future. While Alyssa Milano in 5 years would probably be not so more in vogue. So, I vote for not changing. In my humble opinion, this would be the most encyclopedic way of managing this disambiguation. Goodbye, --Conte di Cavour (talk) 23:43, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you are saying, given the historical connection of "Milano" to Milan, but it just doesn't seem to be what English readers are looking for. Steel1943 (talk) 00:31, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Of the other entries on the DAB page, only two are entities titled "Milano": a town of fewer than 500 and an obscure biscuit/cookie. The others are partial title matches and there is no evidence that people searching for those entities would search by "Milano". —  AjaxSmack  01:15, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Such a redirect is allowed in WP:FORRED as the original name for a location. Therefore, Milan's importance trumps the other items.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 04:08, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - Alyssa Milano and other people with that name should not even be listed on the disambiguation page (WP:NAMELIST - "articles on people should be listed at the disambiguation page for their first or last name only if they are reasonably well known by it. We reasonably expect to see Abraham Lincoln at Lincoln (disambiguation), but very few sources would refer to the waltz composer Harry J. Lincoln by an unqualified "Lincoln", so he is only listed at the Lincoln (surname) anthroponymy article. This is even more widespread for first names"). And WP:FORRED indicates "Milano" is an appropriate redirect to "Milan" ("Original or official names of people, places, institutions, publications or products"). 79.65.126.84 (talk) 14:58, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
