Deletion

[edit]

I suggest this article should be kept; fact is this was Arsenal's most memorable championship season -- perhaps the greatest in the last three decades of English football. It requires some time and effort to add player statistics, matches, dates and sources which will take place in the next fortnight at best. Lemonade51 (talk) 15:13, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It has now expanded enough to demonstrate notability. I won't be retagging it.
Maybe put those sentences in the article with [citation needed] tags? That would give useful clues to anyone stumbling across the article about its significance. —EncMstr (talk) 16:29, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 00:54, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not a fan of one-sentence paras in lead. try and meld somewhere....
  • Added something on players winning awards in the lead and the squad stats section.
  • Arsenal sold a number of fringe players throughout the season so Graham could trim his squad. - err, surely the players were sold (thereby trimming the squad) so he could expand the squad with new players....?
  • The flow through the months is okay, but there is a little bit of "and then (match)....and then (match)...and then (match)." I wonder if a little more fleshing out here would be good. e.g. the dustup that earnt Davis a 9 match suspension. Anything else about any particular match or in-form or out-of-form players/goals etc.
  • I've fleshed out what I feel are the interesting/notable games that season, let me know if you think more is needed. I only have access to few publications atm, so can't expand as much as I'd like to. Lemonade51 (talk) 16:36, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Otherwise looking pretty "Good"..... Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 01:00, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That looks fine - it gives it some atmosphere and works well.

Appearances - discrepancy between text and table

[edit]

The article states that "Thomas featured in 47 matches – the most of any Arsenal player in the campaign." However the table below shows Lukic, Winterburn, and Rocastle with 48. Grunners (talk) 09:30, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

11 point difference to Liverpool

[edit]

From the opening section: "At one stage Arsenal were 11 points clear of Liverpool". From the March-May section: "Arsenal's form dipped as they drew 2–2 with Charlton Athletic, leaving themselves 11 points behind Liverpool who had three games in hand." - Assume it's the former that is correct?
