Deadliest subway disasters

This article claims that the deadliest subway disaster before the Baku subway fire was the 1903 Paris Metro train fire. This is incorrect -- the Malbone Street Wreck in New York was even deadlier than the Paris fire. I've fixed the article to reflect this fact. 24.23.197.43 (talk) 01:11, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Self-contradiction

The article's lead says that "the possibility of deliberate sabotage was not excluded", but the "Event" section says "the fire, caused by an electrical fault". If there are conflicting sources the article should discuss this in one place and not pick one or another in different places.

Number of injuries

This article says 289 dead and 265 injured. Baku Metro says 289 dead and over 300 injured. They can't both be right.

Dubious

The article says that 95% of the people who evacuated the train survived, and cites as source a web page which does indeed say that. However, that page also says that 40 people were found dead in the tunnel. If both numbers are correct and another 245 people died on the train, then that would mean there were at least 285+40/(1-.95) = 1,085 people on the train at the time of the accident. For a 5-car train, that would mean an average of 217 people per car, which in my experience as a subway rider in various cities (although never in Baku) would be an awful lot. I'm dubious as to whether the 95% number is exaggerated.

Agreed, if the train had been at teh station it would be one thing, but they were 200 meters from it, so no one could have died there. are there any other sources, news paper articles or anything?MilkStraw532 (talk) 00:46, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
