Needs to have the name changed and also is of low importance(fyi) Welcome to IUPAC nomenclature people! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spgoo1 (talkcontribs) 06:30, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia uses common names for chemical article titles (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemicals/Style guidelines). The IUPAC name is in the article if you need it. -- Ed (Edgar181) 10:14, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't but-2-yne the correct IUPAC name? [link http://www.acdlabs.com/iupac/nomenclature/93/r93_280.htm] PiFanatic (talk) 22:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, the correct name is but-2-yne--Mvpetri (talk) 16:38, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are dimethylacetylene and ethylacetylene really geometric isomers? I'm new to all this, but geometric isomers redirects to sys-trans isomerism, which doesn't seem to be what's going on here. Adam1729 (talk) 04:00, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ethyne is too, symmetric.[edit]

Despite that, it'sn't listed on the group of symmetric alkynes. Alfa-ketosav (talk) 09:25, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
