Complete text[edit]

That ought to be moved to Wikisource. Noel (talk) 12:25, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Given the controversial nature of anything related to Israel I figure I better document what I did. Security Council resolution #194 was mentioned in the article but not linked even though it has a page at Wikipedia. I made the reference a link, nothing more.

Merge[edit]

The merge tags did not specify which title should be moved where. Even though the Summit is largely known for the Saudi peace initiative (or as I revised the lead paragraph to read: "became especially noteworthy for [its] adoption..."), it did take place within the context and as a conclusion of the former. This is, then, why I merged into the latter title. I chose to keep the bolded text for of the merged entry title, and created subsections which follow from it (entire body of the article; the entire text of the original Beirut Summit entry is in the lead paragraph). Update[edit]

I added the update template to this article. It hasn't been edited since the recent Riyadh summit, which revived the Arab Peace Initiative. Particularly the section "Current status of the initiative" is outdated. Arab Peace Initiative redirects here, and I couldn't find an article on the Riyadh summit, so a lot of people will come here looking for information on recent developments with respect to the initiative. de-merge[edit]

I'm a bit in a hurry, so I didn't move the whole article of the Beirut summit to this article, but I hope someone else does. I realize the reasons were valid once this article was created, but not they aren't. As it has been mentioned before there's another summit which arabs re-agreed upon the initiative, and also (and more importantly): Arabs are now publicizing their initiative. Jordan and Egypt were appointed countries to try to convince Israel to accept the initiative, and a delegation headed by Saudi Arabia will try to publicize it in the US.

Overall, there's too much new infromation to be included. The article can't survive as a subsection. Eshcorp 09:00, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

innacurate[edit]

This article makes no mention of the fact that israel ultimately rejected the offer. Reading it one would think it was implemented.
