Transfers Section

[edit]

Someone has added a Transfers section to the article without discussion (there has not been one previously). While I think there is a place for a transfers section in this article I do not believe that the table as it exists is the most suitable form. The issues I have are

  1. The number of transfers listed is very arbitrary and barely covers the subject over the whole of english football in the summer of 2013
  2. The fact that it is the 'top 5 most expensive' means that it currently relies on speculation from the press on the values of the transfers that take place

What we need in this section is something that:

  1. Summarises the transfer activity of all of the professional leagues
  2. Does not rely on speculation
  3. Does not repeat everything in here or here

I am open to suggestions as to what we include but I don't like what is there at the moment and will remove it once a better suggestion has been agreed.=> Spudgfsh (Text Me!) 16:54, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As there has been no suggestions I'm removing the speculative table. => Spudgfsh (Text Me!) 18:56, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Premier League Table

[edit]

Footnote 1 to the Premier League table is attached to Everton and Tottenham and reads as follows:

"1 Since the winners of 2013–14 FA Cup and 2013–14 Football League Cup (Arsenal and Manchester City) qualified for the 2014–15 UEFA Champions League, the 5th and 6th placed teams qualified for the group stage and the play-off round of 2014–15 UEFA Europa League."

In accordance with UEFA Europa League qualification rules the footnote should be attached only to the 6th placed team (Tottenham) and should read:

"1 Since the winners of the 2013–14 Football League Cup (Manchester City) qualified for the 2014–15 UEFA Champions League, the 6th placed team qualified for the play-off round of 2014–15 UEFA Europa League."

This needs to be changed by someone who knows how to do it, please. Sherwin35 (talk) 20:07, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I get what you are saying but I dont totally agree. What is also meant to be said is that since Arsenal and City won the 5th placed team qualified for group stage instead of play-off which also needs to be stated. I will see if I can find an other way to modify the sentence to make it clearer. QED237 (talk) 20:11, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
