Remane this Page

[edit]

Is it time to rename this page to 2022 Kenya General election? Or delete this page all together? Sputink (talk) 16:10, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Sputink The Good News : Finally the Adminstrator did it for you. THE NEWS SERVICE IEOS UPDATES (talk) 07:54, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sputink It now Year 2022. So it goes on and sucessfully that is an exceed results of the general election events. THE NEWS SERVICE IEOS UPDATES (talk) 07:55, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Important to express the political campaign reality in this page as per the sources.

[edit]

There is a new narrative in Kenyan politics and this source captures it well:https://www.saferworld.org.uk/long-reads/why-peace-remains-elusive-as-kenya-prepares-for-the-2022-general-elections

If there are disputes as to the narrative,we can discuss it here.Mwenemucii (talk) 19:29, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The text you are adding is not backed up by the sources being used. For example, the claim that "This new identity politics in Kenya is often characterized as a contest between hustlers – Kenya’s vast underclass typically working in the informal economy – and the dynasties of the Kenyattas, Odingas and other colonial era wealthy political families" is referenced to this article, which says nothing of the sort – no mention of hustlers or dynasties or colonial-era wealth.
Similarly, the claim "In the 2022 elections there are some signs that ethnic based mobilization, ethnicity based political discourse and its underlying drivers are changing" is sourced to this article, where the only reference to ethnic politics is regarding claims made about the BBI reforms. Seen it.I have corrected the references and the article too. Mwenemucii (talk) 06:55, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you revert it back in after I removed it? Did you actually read the references for the text you added originally? Number 57 11:38, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Campaign Section

[edit]

This section contains alot of irrelevant texts . Someone neutral and familiar with the topic can clean up the section. Cheers Megan B.... It’s all coming to me till the end of time 10:03, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of unconfirmed results to this page

[edit]

@Admi Javed Khan king: please stop adding unverified information of the "results" to this page. First of all, you're sourcing to the IEBC website containing the raw data on voters, which is an improper use of a primary source that amounts to original research. Secondly, IEBC has not released the official result, and no reliable source has reported that they have. I'll revert your additions just as @154.70.0.223: did. Please do not re-add without consensus. Error in the votes

[edit]

The source give a total of valid votes of 14,213,137 but the addition of the votes of all candidates give 14,213,027. Aréat (talk) 06:47, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Current election template

[edit]

I propose that this template be removed from the article now. The election is over; at this point the only thing that can happen is an election petition challenging the results. MediaKill13 (talk) 13:44, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. There's still several seats to be declared, and the election may not be considered over until the Supreme court declare the results definitive. There's only two to three weeks for that, anyways, considering appeals have to be submitted within seven days, and the court decision has to be made within two weeks.--Aréat (talk) 06:10, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You have a point in that there are a few gubernatorial and constituency elections which were postponed, but appeals to the Supreme Court have nothing to do with whether the election is ongoing. In fact, you can only appeal to the Supreme Court once the election is over, because they cannot adjudicate an ongoing election. All the Court can do is to nullify the (presidential) election results and order a fresh one, but that fresh election will be a totally separate event from the 2022 general election. So the template should be removed after those postponed elections are held and the winners are declared. MediaKill13 (talk) 08:47, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Image of voting results

[edit]

File:Official Kenyan Presidential Election Result.png has an error in that it duplicates the name of William Ruto and leaves out Raila Odinga's name. However, I'm not sure how to fix it myself. —Danre98(talk^contribs) 04:04, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When that happen its best to simply ping its creator @Khaleedasa:.--Aréat (talk) 10:31, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I removed it for now; feel free to reinsert once fixed. Felix QW (talk) 14:55, 20 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion polls

[edit]

@Einahr: I'm opposed to the addition of the official results in the opinion polls section. Results are not opinion polls, and they have their own section, so they shouldn't be added as part of the opinion polls. What's your rationale for adding them there? MediaKill13 (talk) 13:20, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
