The Amin citations do not have entries as references.
Personally, I like to use full names when known: ~~Field marshal Roberts~~ Field Marshal Frederick Roberts. The person who does the next review may prefer the same.
Try to look up links. You may be surprised that articles exist. For example, see Patrick Grant; I think that's the person you want. I believe William H. Hewitt was the British commander at Meerut (obtained by Google search). He has no Wikipedia article.
