Barrel aging?

[edit]

@Lightburst: Thanks so much for your help on this article! I noticed you added a "see also" for barrel-aged beer. I hadn't seen sources that mentioned that this company used that process—thought they were more of a low- to mid-market operation that wouldn't be likely to make fancy beers like that. Maybe I missed something—mind pointing me to that source? AleatoryPonderings (talk) 18:06, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Peripherally related in that it is a brewery technique/process. You are free to delete that if you like. Lightburst (talk) 18:23, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying. Think I will, just because I found it a bit misleading. Thanks again for your work! AleatoryPonderings (talk) 18:26, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I put a list together and added it to the Beer Template. Lightburst (talk) 19:18, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Woah, are you superhuman?! That was amazingly fast! AleatoryPonderings (talk) 19:22, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe. Here is a short list, probably some notable defunct brewers that we have no articles for. Lightburst (talk) 19:41, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, don't give me yet another wikigoal! AleatoryPonderings (talk) 19:43, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Lightburst: Great find on that! Isn't it in the public domain since it was published in 1900? I guess it's hard to tell given that the logo might have been used until 1935, but I would imagine that an advertisement published in 1900 has lost its copyright protection? No objection to use of the logo itself; I cut the other images just now only because the page looked a little overcrowded with three of them. AleatoryPonderings (talk) 00:23, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is ok to use logo's- I found it in the 1900 Washington Times. But I also think the photo of the factory should be somewhere in the ad. Lightburst (talk) 00:30, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I just meant that you might be able to post it on Commons instead of locally as fair use, since I think it is probably out of copyright. Completely up to you though! AleatoryPonderings (talk) 00:35, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I probably could, however I have found that there are too many hurdles on commons, and I never know if I have done everything right. I have had uploads tagged there years ago and now I am reluctant. Lightburst (talk) 00:37, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Completely fair :) AleatoryPonderings (talk) 00:40, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

it has come a long way sine it was tagged. Lightburst (talk) 00:43, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for collaberating. That was fun. Saving the content for future generations. I learned alot. For instance that Christian Heurich fellow who sued them, he was snarly all throughout. Even fighting with the fireman...who got together to pay his striking workers in 1904. He was involved in several lawsuits throughout, and his interviews in 1899-1935 newsprint were always acerbic. i wonder if he has an article or his company? Lightburst (talk) 01:35, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, a ton of fun! Really great to work together, especially on a "diamond in the rough" like this one. Didn't come across Heurich in my searches, but my newspaper access isn't that extensive. I'll see if I can dig anything up on him. AleatoryPonderings (talk) 02:12, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I got Newspaper access through WP. Just applied and it was granted. It is really interesting to see the old adds, and article titles. I love it. You should work on some articles over at WP:ARS. I find it very fun to save articles, and we even have quite a few DYKs. I wrote an article years ago called Jean Mill and the ARS saved it with research, I have been a member ever since.
